Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

When we experience a traumatic event, our brain kicks into survival mode. But, what happens when it’s months or years out from the trauma and still responding to the past threat?

Sometimes, the worst experiences we’ve had and long to put in our past just seem to stay with us. No matter how much we try to avoid the reminders and shove down the thoughts and feelings from our experience, they always pop up just as if we were re-living it again. It can impact how we see others, the world, and even ourselves.

I specialize in the treatment of trauma through Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Together, we can examine the impacts of your trauma, the messages you’ve carried with you as a result, and the ways these messages impact your emotions. From there, you’ll learn tools for working through these beliefs to experience the natural emotions related to your experiences and find the safety to re-engage in the here and now.
