Living with OCD can feel like running on a never ending hamster wheel of thoughts. It loves the black and white and hates the grey. It loves to point out the “what if” and the unknown. It spins a powerful nightmare of a tale, sucking us into the possibility and convincing us to act on the possible threat. It casts us as the villain – the one who’s out of control, the one who could harm, the one who’s secretly evil, someone who’s negligent. We may respond by Googling, reassurance seeking, testing out our doubts, ruminating, avoiding, or whatever else OCD may convince us will resolve our doubt once and for all.
If only our compulsions worked!
If you’re exhausted from running on the hamster wheel, I would love to work with you. I specialize in the treatment of OCD with Inference Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT). Together, we can discover where OCD has been impacting your life and listen to its stories. From there, you’ll learn strategies for identifying OCD’s reasoning tricks and how to go from responding to its narrative to living confidently in your own reality.
